1. Introduction

In Lesson 1, rt 90 made square corners. What changes when the walk stays the same but the turn gets sharper?

Compare the paths first. Afterward, the pattern has a useful explanation: turns around a regular closed shape total 360°, so each exterior turn is 360 ÷ sides.

rt 90Square corner
90°starts facing up · turns clockwise

A quarter turn — used for squares and stairs.

rt 180Half turn
180°starts facing up · turns clockwise

Faces the opposite way. Useful for zigzags and bounce-backs.

rt 270Three-quarter turn
270°starts facing up · turns clockwise

Same facing as lt 90, but turning the long way with rt.

rt 60Hexagon corner
60°starts facing up · turns clockwise

360 ÷ 6 = 60. Six of these make a hexagon.
